Ngwenzeni Development Association -Ngweda is serving orphans and other vulnerable children(OVC) from rural and Peri-urban set ups in Mariakani, Kaloleni district of Kilifi county in Kenya. Some of the children are orphans as a result of HIV/AIDs while others are under care of ailing parents and are in extreme poverty. The children faces situations of poor health and nutrition, lack inadequate care and support, face situations of stigma and discrimination and are at risk of being infected with HIV, being involved in drug and substance abuse and temptations to be involved in prostitution and child labor.
Our organization also reaches children who are chronically ill. Some have been diagnosed of heart diseases, urinal tract diseases and HIV/AIDs. These chronically ill children are under the care of very poor families. After diagnosis in public hospitals the children have not been able to pursue with treatment as recommended by their doctors. In return both the children and their parents face long lasting suffering and they have found no one to help them.
In the Child rescue project, our organization seeks to ease the pressure and suffering of the chronically ill children and their parents through fund raising for the treatment and up keep of the children. The children are in need of money to make them have treatment and medications recommended, good nutrition and proper care at their family set ups.
In the near future our organization will post clinical and poverty history of the children to have a greater understanding of the situation.
